I always had a passion for photography. I liked playing with cameras and trying new ones. But I really started taking it seriously towards the end of high school, when I purchased my first single lens reflex.
In university, in my different social group, I was always the one with the camera taking photos. Then, two events had a major influence on me. First, I joined the student paper, on the photography team. Then, the French language improv group asked me to lend them the photos I had taken of their various performances in order to promote a major national tournament they were hosting. I started to realize I wanted to pursue a career in photography, rather than in the field I was studying.
After completing my B.A., I enrolled at La Cité, the French language community college in Ottawa, where I completed a two-year photography program. I was able to get in as an apprentice at a studio after graduating from college. Two years later, I struck out on my own and started my own business.
After 10 years, in order to upgrade my skills, I returned to La Cité to complete a post-graduate course in digital imaging. Not only did this program help me acquire new skills, but it helped me rethink how I take photos and develop a new style.
My passion for photography had never diminished. I love working with people, and enjoy creating images and memories that will be cherished for many years.
